I am Muhammad Habib Ash Shiddiqi, one of the students in the Chemistry Education Program at Universitas Islam Indonesia. I am the awardee of Kampus Mengajar batch 2021. Kampus Mengajar is part of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program organized by the Indonesian Ministry of Education. This program strives to offer students opportunities to learn and develop their potential outside of the classroom.
Joining “Kampus Mengajar” program is one of the most valuable and unforgettable experiences for me. There are so many impressions that I get while following this program. Kampus Mengajar provides a lot of life lessons and the application of knowledge that has been obtained in higher education.
In this program, I had the opportunity to become a teacher assistant and contribute to was placed in SDIT Al Kautsar, Jerowaru, East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. When I first entered as a university student teaching, there was a distinct impression that made me excited to be dedicated to education in this country. The smiles of the pupils that I teach make me never feel tired of participating in this program for 6 months. Every morning, I have to get up early to get ready for school and teach them.
The main objective of this program is to improve pupils’ literacy and numeracy at the elementary school level and also to introduce technology-based learning. Kampus Mengajar program provides so many unforgettable experiences. Along with other awardees from different universities, we arrange various work programs that we will implement in the placement of elementary schools. Among them, some lessons are held every Wednesday afternoon, such as tree planting to preserve the school environment and technology-based learning to make understand the material. Pupils are very enthusiastic about the learning process. Kampus Mengajar programs are great for honing skills directly by plunging into the field. This program provides new knowledge and a new perspective on life.
