Chemistry Education Study Program (CESP) facilitates students to do student mobility abroad. One of the regular student mobility programs is SEA Teacher. The SEA Teacher Project or the “Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia” is a project that aims to provide opportunity for pre-service student teachers from universities in Southeast Asia to have teaching experiences (practicum) in schools in other countries in Southeast Asia.

SEA Teacher is a program organized by The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO). Based on the SEAMEO seven priority areas for the eleven SEAMEO Member countries to work together to improve the quality of education in Southeast Asia, “Revitalizing Teacher Education” is one of the priority areas in building and strengthening capacity of teachers in the region. The duration is for one month and based on the mechanism of cost sharing basis. Students’ roles and responsibilities are assigned weekly during the one month period (observe, assist in teaching, teach and reflect). Moreover, the host universities will provide mentors to supervise and monitor the students throughout the practicum period.

Objectives of the SEA Teacher:

  1. To enable pre-service student teachers to develop their teaching skills and pedagogy
  2. To encourage the pre-service student teachers to practice their English skills
  3. To allow the pre-service student teachers to gain a broader regional and world view
  4. To expose future teachers to diverse teaching and learning situations and opportunities, and the value of flexibility.

SEA Teacher implementation mechanism:

  1. Students submit application form through CESP
  2. CESP conducts administrative selection and English interview
  3. CESP sends data of qualified candidates to the University International Office
  4. International Office coordinate with partner universities and SEAMEO for selection
  5. Students who pass the selection, carry out teaching practices aboard, for 1 full month under the guidance of partner universities

Campus Teaching is a program that provides opportunities for students for 1 (one) semester to help teachers and principals at the elementary and junior high school levels in carrying out learning activities affected by the pandemic. Through this program, students can devote their knowledge, skills, and inspire these elementary and middle school students to broaden their goals and horizons.

CESP provides opportunities and encourages students to implement campus teaching programs. Instructions for implementing campus teaching can be downloaded as follows.
